And we have a rich, bourbon barrel-aged stout to pair with all of them. Gatherwell is a full-bodied and, dare we say, decadent stout aged in bourbon barrels for notes of cocoa, vanilla, oak, and a hint of bourbon.

Allagash, imperial stouts, bourbon barrel aging, I like all three in a beer. I obtained a 12 oz bottle from Half Time some months ago, time to have a taste. A nice pour inside of my New Belgium globe glass, my go-to. Really dark brown, one shade away from black, with a spare swirl and ring of creamy tan foam. I smell chocolate, vanilla, a bit of coffee and scorched grain. A drink now, chocolate again, some char, red berries, toast, malt and a hint of honey. Thinner than I expected for an 11% abv beer. And I get no indication from the barrels unfortunately. Decent but far from expectations.

Bottle picked up from Beer Republic webshop Breda Netherlands had this sat on the balcony at home Monday 20th May 2024, sat outside in the garden, we had Omani Mishkak Lamb Kebabs later with Feta and Chorizo Kebabs, Spiced Potatoes and a Freekah & Tomato accompaniment. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma is bourbon but with addition of a little spice and chocolate. These aroma profiles come through in the mouth along with some liquorice and roastiness. Not amazing but it's decent.

ABV: 11.0%. Clear dark dark brown colour with a small to average, frothy - fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, barrel, rich, moderate chocolate and coffee. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet with a long duration, dark malt, roasted, chocolate - coffee - dark malt, rich, barrel, licorice. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is warming and light alcoholic. [20240505]

Sample (thanks omhper!). Pitch black colour with a small brown head. Aroma is chocolate syrupy tones, some alcohol, mild liquorice tones. Flavour is chocolate, roasted tones, mild sweet floral tones, figs, nutty tones.

--Bottled, from Systembolaget. -- Aroma of coffee, toffee and mild bourbon. Mid sweet with full bofy and rounded, somewaht spritzy mouthfeel. Belgo stout style marzipan and pricklyness. Tobacco and licorice on coffee and caramel. Finishes off with mild oak, long bitterness and evident peppery heat.

Shared at Palace Hall, Malmö March 2024 tasting (23/03/2024) - roasted dark sweet malty with notes of cocoa, some toffee and caramel sticky sweet malts, bourbon soaked wooden accents chiming in, full bodied, bourbon washed lingering malty into the close. Good no nonsense impy.

Opaque stout, medium light tan head. Aroma is full of boozy warmth, with caramel,.malt and dried fruit. Flavour has the sweet bourbon too, but it's enhancing things not overpowering them. Caramel, fruit fruit, sweet malt. It's big and boozy and warming, with the barrel really coming through in the finish. Lovely stuff.
