This is an aggressively hopped American Brown Ale named after the Katmai National Park, home to thousands of Grizzly Bears. The hop bill combines a mix of classic and new wave hops for a great tropical aroma paired with sharp citrus and pine. This is underpinned with a complex combination of malts, providing a great base of caramel and nutty sweetness.

Can. Just a light haze on this deep amber beer, big tan head. Airy palate, semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Smooth malts, a nice light creamy sweetness. Mild mild earthy vibe, nothing like as robust as a what I would consider a brown. The back end of the beer more than makes up for it with soft but fairly bright plum, soft pine, touch of pruney ripe brown fruits on the finish. Nice beer, just needs a richer malt base to be a stellar beer.

Can, 5.5%. Good spicy aroma, caramelly with a mild spicy hop note. The flavour is nicely bitter with a good nutty maltiness, caramelly notes, spicy hop notes. Flavourful and well-balanced. A very good example of the style.

A dark brown beer, a head is medium and blond. Aroma has pine, breadyness in the body, also light fruitness. Taste has breadyness, pine, some bitterness and citrus. Medium bodied. Surpringly fresh, I like this.

Can. Thornbridge subscription box. Clear copper. Good thick light beige foam. Nicely pungent earthy leafy hop leaf on top of very lightly roasted coffee malt. Taste doesn’t hold back on the bitterness either. Nice body. Easy drinking hopped up affair.
