Barrel-Aged Breakfast Stout
Bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout brewed with lactose and finished with vanilla beans, blueberries, maple syrup, and natural flavors.

Fellow Innovators! Late last year we blazed through an unexpected hit of a canned sweet stout release -- there were astronauts and maple syrup! There were grizzly bears and blueberries and DeLoreans! There was #NoTimeToExplain!
We've applied that absurdly delicious finishing treatment to a mix of Fundamental Observation barrels filled throughout 2018, 2019, and 2020, then blended with a chewy, lactose-based sweet stout for a liquid that can only rightly be called: #MoreTimeToExplain!
Huge aromas of ripe blueberry and sweet maple syrup deliver waves of blueberry pancake-stuffed nostalgia. Bright blueberry opens the palate then oaky vanilla from beans and barrel hit mid-palate, tempering the sweetness of a long, maple-rich finish. Lactose delivers a creamy mouthfeel on a velvety base that drinks like the Sunday morning of a three-day weekend.

Intense dark sweet malty with chocolate, caramel and sticky maple, some nice blueberry coming through as it warms up, smooth mouthfeel and full body, sweet lingering and warming malty finish. Lovely.

Annie doesn't like lactose, the flavor in this is pretty on point though, sadly I drank a fair bit before realizing so pray for me. Nice blueberry and maple syrup notes, would be better without lactose but I dig the breakfast vibes here.

500 ml bottle shared by tfontana. Thank you Tom! Aroma is huge maple and blueberries. Flavor has the maple and blueberry in Spades! It does show some small issues. Bourbon hardly some at all. In the finish it also has a soft astringent note. More then anything else, it is overly sweet.

Bottle pour from Valley Beverage. Opaque black with ring of head and no lacing. Aroma is strong blueberry and maple, perhaps with small chocolate and hint of bourbon. Taste is strong blueberry over maple syrup over chocolate and mild bourbon and alcohol astringency. Smooth, thick texture, soft carbonation and finish as taste. HUGE blueberry and maple, to the exclusion of about anything else. Too sweet and out of balance. Rare miss for BL.
