Bringing sweet flavour to winter mornings, maple syrup not only goes with American pancakes and cappuccino, but also beer. Mad Scientist’s barley wine, with flavours of caramel and toasted brown sugar, have been supplemented by the sweet liqueurs of Canada’s national speciality. In addition, Old King Clancy has an earthy-bitter finish, which is why it can be recommended to those otherwise discouraged by this oft-exaggerated variety.

Can. Very expensive one from the Nitrox pub in Kotor old town. 10.5% this version. Near opaque dark amber brown beer, small tan head. Airy palate, mildly dry, decent fine carbonation. Slightly thin bodied malts in this BW but, a good dark toffee, really not that sweet. The maple appears to have turned savoury here, no sickly sweetness, that's fer sure, some soy. A little ripe fruits on the light finish, as in prune and date but, again not sweet. Interesting barleywine, quite light to drink but, pretty savoury. Yeah, enjoying this.

Kicsi, örökké tartó hab, sötétbarna szín. Karamelles, gabonás, juharszirupos illat. Intenzív, karamelles, gabonás, juharszirupos ízek, enyhe narancshéjas aromával. Édes, testes, enyhén szénsavas, enyhén keserű. Jól összerakott desszertsör, de kicsit sok a karamell.

Tap at the Prague Beer Fest 2023, the last keg in existence they said! Thx! Black body, off-white head. Lean aroma, sweetish maple, feels fresh somehow. Orange and maple notes in the taste, actually, honey. Nice and lean, sweetish, but far less than I'd expected, quite respectable.
