330ml can. Pours black with a dark brown head. Aroma of coffee, vanilla, dark chocolate, nuts. Taste of bittersweet coffee and dark chocolate, vanilla, molasses, roast malts, sugary sweet. Medium-full bodied, smooth. Again, very glad this was only a 330ml can, ridiculously rich and sweet.

Cam bought at Kerrera, Guildford. Aroma combines dark coffee and chocolate with a streak of chocolate icecream. Dark and glossy. Flamboyant foamy tan head. Initial sweet hit. Very sugary coffee and sweet nuts. All very sweet but not too much of that. Bitter coffee streak. Very sweet Turkish coffee. Thick and creamy. Average prickly carbonation. Long astringent finish. Great stuff.

Taste comprises roast malts, spice, chocolate, coffee, brown sugar melt, charr. Medium plus bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced spike of booze. Solid.

On keg at the Hanging Back. Appearance - opaque black with a lovely fawn head. Nose - very dark chocolate, a hint of dried fruit. Earthy. Taste - very dark chocolate and a hint of smoky chilli. Palate - medium to full bodied, smoky dry finish. Overall - the smoky spicy finish I'm detecting is drying out the sweetness of the middle section.

Black beer, thick tan head. Smell has malt, coffee and a little marzipan. Flavour has the marzipan too, with chocolate, coffee, nuts, brown sugar. Nice, thick body. Good, sweet but not sickly aftertaste. Very, very nice.
