La Salamandre, the original BFM, wheat beer, fresh and spicy. Brewed with wheat- and barley malt, La Salamandre is a beer with a bloomy and tangy bouquet. On the palate, the subtle hints of yeast render the beer creamy with a tad o’ tartness, which is typical for wheat beers. The finish is hardly bitter, but racy, with a taste of bitter orange zest and discrete hops.

Hazy light golden ale with a creamy white head. Light lactic acid and barnyard notes, with light skunkyness. Good refreshing malt, with light coriander, mint and good acidity. A good summer wit, original. At the Mondiale, June 2006.

Bottle. Spicy aroma. Cloudy pale yellow colour. No head. Refreshing flavour which is a little acidic and spicy. The acidity suits this beer quite well. A little watery, but that does not hurt my overall impression of it.

The aroma is fantastic; sweet malt with strong notes of fruit and spices - I can't put a name on. The aroma also contains notes of yeast and some sourness - like it is found in the aroma of geueze. The color is an unclear dark yellow and it has a beutiful bubbly white head - though very fast disappearing. The flavor is very unusual; sweet though with a strong sour background of wheat malt and with strong spice notes - dominated by corriander and lemon. The corriander and the sour wheat lingers for a long time, just to turn into a lemony dryness. A very complex flavor - great for a Witbier. The palate is quite good. Great thanks to Alex (Fiulijn) for bringing me this beer.

Very white, cloudy; Acidic, orangey palate with ample soft malt. Very complex. And definitely not 'dark ruby'.

Muddy blond color with medium head. The aroma is delicate and nice; some breadish malt, light spices, light horse/animal. Smooth mouthfeel; the flavor is too mild, there is no malt, the spices are delicate, the bitterness very low.
It doesn’t express well from bottles, completely different from the one had on draught a few days ago.

Cloudy blond color with large creamy head. The aroma of malt and spices is really harmonious and intriguing, it almost has a biscuity side, and very light herbal. Smooth mouthfeel, some wheat, light residual sweetness, spices with perfect balance, as well as balanced bitterness, with a touch of bitter oranges.
Excellent, delicate, complex.

2012-09-28, draught at Pibar, Lausanne, 6-4-7-3-14=34
Cloudy blond color, medium sized compact head. Nice aroma, delicate, spicy. Smooth mouthfeel, delicate malt flavor, delicate spicy trait, coriander, with correct bitterness, and a late touch of BFM.
Good, balanced and better than the bottle nowadays.

2012-06-30, bottle at Pibar, Lausanne, 5.5% ABV, bb April 2014, 6-3-6-3-13=31
Cloudy blond color; compact head. The aroma is spicy, nice. Spicy wheat flavor, smooth and dry mouthfeel, strong bitterness, with a shade of bitter oranges in the final.
Correct brew, but without any BFM character.

Cloudy blond color, the head disappears quickly. Refreshing aroma, with some malt, hop, pepper. The mouthfeel is quite thin; it has a quite good mix of flavors (light hop, malt, spices…), but light compared to the usual BFM quality.

Light blond color. Interesting, original aroma, spices. Sour, dry, spicy. The palate is not enough long.

Dark ruby ale. Spicy aroma. Strong character, a light sourness similar to the belgian Oud Bruin beers. Nice malty palate.
