New Zealand Riwaka hops have both a grapefruit-passionfruit brightness along with a diesel-dankness that just isn't matched by any other variety... science has a pretty good idea on the thiols that add the fruitiness (3MH, 3S4MP, 4MMP), but not the dankness. Our friend Kem Eggers harvested a particularly Riwaka-y lot of Riwaka (ESH1) that he had tested for thiols; of the total thiols contained 38.5% were "Unidentified." He sent each of our breweries boxes of it for a pure single-lot expression of one of our favorite hops!
