75 cl. bottle shared with Rick @ home, bought @ Plus.
Dark brown to black with a thin off-white head. Roasted malts and chocolate in the aroma but sadly enough also massive amount of blue cheese. It's as if a round of gorgonzola fell into the bottle and dissolved. Clearly(?) an infection but I don't even know what would cause this as it is unlike anything I tasted before in beer. A shame for a Meesterstuk (Masterpiece) but I know Jopen can and will do better.

Bottle from a local bottle shop. Aroma is vanilla, dark malt, chocolate, some hazelnut. Strange rotten earthy off-flavour messes up the aroma. Like mold-infested pine forest earth. Yikes, a disgrace to the Meesterstuk series.

Bottle shared with Joen and Laura at home. Opaque brown to black color, medium sized light brown colored head. Aroma and flavor are malts, sweetness, artificial chocolate, (Dutch) "Milka chocola", "hopjesvla notes". Not what I like flavor-wise. Body is medium and creamy, carbonation is medium, texture is oily / creamy. Not my kind of beer.

Jopen's new Meesterstuk for this year, anachronistically consumed end of last year - thanks Hinke for sharing! Tiny-bubbled, moussy, pale greyish beige, open ring of foam on a very dark chocolate brown beer with ruby red edges. Aroma of milk chocolate indeed, brownies, black cherries, hazelnut paste, praliné, nougat, ruby port, caramel liqueur, walnut oil, hints of cognac and powder sugar. Sweet yet clean onset, candied cherries, fig jam and a hint of blueberry juice, with prickly carbonation for the style and smooth, oily body; toffeeish malt core under additional milk chocolate and hazelnut paste sweetness and nuttiness, propelled forward by creamy lactose. A hint of cappuccino appears but roasted bitterness is clearly held back, even when a mild herbal hop touch sets in, to let the milk chocolate and hazelnut effects pass through; warming port-like alcohol ensues, providing more bitterness than the malts and the hops. Needs a bit more time perhaps - after all, it is intended for 2024 - but as a whole, this is a promising, rounded, satisfying imperial porter with strong pastry additions.
