Zundert 10 Trappist is een quadrupel met een licht kruidige toets die onze bieren kenmerkt. Dit trappistenbier is diep roodbruin van kleur, met een mooie, licht beige, schuimkraag. De geur geeft hints van gedroogde zuidvruchten, zwoele kruiden, drop en een beetje chocolade. De smaak is vol en zacht, in balans gebracht door een mooie hopbitterheid. In de nasmaak keert de Zundertse kruidigheid subtiel terug.

330ml bottle. Clear, dark chestnut colour with beautiful ruby glimmer and average to huge, thick, creamy, moderately to mostly lasting, moderately lacing, off-white to beige head. Yeasty fruity and dark malty aroma, notes of dried fruit, raisin, plum, fig, some apricot, sweet-ish hints of oat flakes, some dark honey - slight müsli character overall. Taste is sweet, dark malty and yeasty fruity, notes of caramel, dried fruit, raisin, plum, some fig, hints of plum butter, candied fruit, apple, pear, a touch of treacle, dark honey, minimally biting, bitter hoppy counterpart; well hidden alcohol, lingering, sweet fruity and malty finish. Oily to viscous texture, smooth and soft, minimally cloying palate, fine and gentle, prickly carbonation in combination with hop bitterness accounts for good balance.

Gekocht in de Prik&Tik Bierhandel De Picker in Zele op 23-05-2019. En thuis geproefd op 2-11-2019. Zundert 10 is een donker-rood biertje dat veel beige-kleurig schuim produceert in de vorm van een gelijkmatige laag. Het blijft sterk aan het glas kleven en zakt na een tijd in elkaar tot er nog een fijn laagje van ongeveer 1 mm overblijft. Slechts weinig CO2 pareling te zien met grootte bellen.
HET AROMA:
Stroperig en karamel zoet, banaan, rozijn, vijg, chocolade en karamelmout, vanille en wat houttoetsen.
DE SMAAK:
Karamel zoet, wat hopbitterheid, banaan, braambes (maar niet het zure ervan), rozijn, vijg, mout, wat houttoetsen en een alcoholtoets die aan likeur doet denken.
HET MONDGEVOEL:
Volle body, licht bitterdroog. Een verwarmend biertje.
DE NASMAAK:
Vloeit wat uit, is karamelzoetig, wat bitterig, nog wat rozijn en vijg, licht geroosterde mout en chocolademout, een houttoets en nog wat likeur hintjes.
HET VERDICT:
De Zundert 10 wordt aangekondigd als een quadruppel, maar alle smaken en vooral de houttoetsen en het geroosterde komen wat gedempt over, dit is een quad voor het grote publiek.

Clear deep dark brown colour, small but steady beige head, after a while a thin creamy layer with yeast circles remains. At first shy but gradually a rich aroma, toasted malt, coffee cream, light chocolate, caramel, vanilla, bit dark fruit. Flavour light heavy sweet and light bitter, light roastiness, coffee, caramel, chocolate, dark fruits leading to a smooth sweet-sweet-bitter finish, bit roast, chocolate notes, soft alcohol. Full-bodied, well-balanced and well-made quadruple, delightful.

Owoce ciemne, na slodko z karmelem, takie troche a la powidoa sliwkowowisniowe. Troche przyprawowosci. Dosc slodkie calosciowo, niemalo ciala, duzo co2, smaczne tito ryli mocno i stylowe :)

33 cl bottle @ hotel room, Utrecht. BBE 07.01.2022 Aroma has ripe fruits and yeast. Also caramel and toffee. Flavour has alcohol, funky yeasty tones, ripe fruits, caramel and mild spiciness. Strong, alcohol is present but does not disturb that much. Perhaps a bit one-dimensional fot the style and the ABV.

Bottle at home from a supermarket in Amsterdam, 20th September 19. Pours a chestnut brown, aroma is dark fruit, liquorice, caramel. Taste is dark fruit, caramel, dark fruit, smooth and complex. Great Quad.

Bottle, bb 12/21. Dark brown with a lovely large beige head. Aroma of dough, prunes, light spices, hints of chocolate. Not a lot more than medium bodied, carbonation on the high end of moderate. Tastes much as it smells with dried fruit - raisins and sultanas as well as prunes - and dough, some chocolate, chicory and other spices before firm bitterness. Maybe lacks depth compared to some but I really liked the finish.
