An East Coast take on our Classic West Coast IPA. Haze and the addition of Galaxy and Nelson hops set this Sculpin brew apart from the rest. This modern evolution is juicy, earthy, and approachable with a soft bitterness but still lets the hops shine – just like you’d expect.

I got this 12 oz can of Hazy Sculpin at the Palm Springs Total Wine about a month ago. From the stamp on the bottom, it appears to be seriously out of date, oh well. I like Ballast Point, not much a fan of NE IPAs. I am sampling this early evening with my Buffalo Bayou snifter, I pull the tab and pour. The liquid is yellow-orange with a modest skim of entirely white foam. The scent is juice with some pine in the background. I do not know if it is the age showing but the taste is somewhat off. Orange rind, a touch of hops, malt and a touch of sourness. It doesn't add up right, unfortunate. If I get the chance I will purchase this one again and give it another try. Shame on Total Wine for not rotating this can out.

Teku showing slightly turbid dark gold to pale amber with half a finger of clean white foam.
The nose shows moderately intense notes of sweet and candied grapefruit.
The palate is well carbonated and medium to heavy bodied. Mildly sweet with moderately intense flavors of grapefruit with some earthiness and a moderately intense bitterness on the finish.

1oz. Appearance: murky golden with a white head. Aroma: loads of overripe tropical fruits, sweet, malty. Taste: along the same lines, smooth, quite bold. Overall: somehow the tropical fruit flavors are even at the beginning of the rottening stage which is weird, but unique. Interesting.

Can is date stamped on bottom: PKG 032223. Smells and tastes like it. Old hoppy beer. A pity, because I really like their other hoppy brews when they're fresh.
