BA Sump 2022 is an imperial stout aged in whiskey barrels with coffee from Peru La Convención roasted by Sump Coffee. A blend of stouts with a barrel breakdown of 20% 21 month aged in Weller Barrels, 20% 20 month aged bourbon barrels, 30% 20 month aged in Rittenhouse Rye, and 30% 20 month aged in Wild Turkey barrels. As with all coffee beers, we encourage you to store cold and drink fresh.

this 75cl bottle says 13.4% instead of 13.5% but otherwise exactly same label and text.
pours nearly black and not at all watery, settles with a small brown ring head with bubbles.
strong bourbon aroma, strong hard roasted malts aroma strong coffee and espresso aroma. more coffe than espresso. in fact more well roasted coffee beans than coffee. i think the coffee note is the stronges of the aroma notes. this is pretty rare.
flavor is sweet from bourbon, roasted malts, coconut, syrupy vanilla like note, end is pastry stoutish. it's like the roasted malts have a bit of troube getting through the other flavors. very decent but imho perhaps too much bourbon, maybe longer barrelling would add more complexity. maybe double mashing the stout would add more base and backbone.

Noire huile de moteur, épais huileux doré au verre, col mokaish.
Arôme est profond sur les malts - chocolaté, barrique de rye bourbon notes de vanille - café en support avec un léger côté presque framboise et un gros chocolaté qui revient à la charge.
Palais est épais, grosse charge de malts - pas mal de chocolat avec une petite douceur de lactose en support mais sans être surfaite - vanille, cacao, chaleur des quasi 14%. Tellement gros, le café prend presque un effet anodin - le tout verse un peu plus sur les fruits rouges et repris par des notes de cacao.

Pours a jet black body and a small beige head with little retention. Aroma's: sweet, bourbon, boozy, vanilla, roasty, chocolate. Retronasal: bourbon, boozy, sweet, coffee-ish, chocolate. Flavour is (heavy) sweet, woody, boozy. Warming alcohol. Full bodied. Pretty darn nice.

Bottle shared by MJ. Black with brief, beige head. Roasted aroma with cinnamon, some oak, big coffee. Tastes like someone poured bourbon in my morning coffee. Loads of coffee, some dark chocolate, big bourbon taste without alcohol heat. Nice!
