A sweet nose with a subtle hint of marmalade introduces this 5.3% Extra Special Bitter. True to style, there is a malty sweetness that carries through on the palate, tempered by a subtle bitterness that rounds out a short but impactful finish. A rich, full-bodied beer that celebrates the flavoursome Chevallier Heritage Malt.

Cask at Trekkers, Chesham, Bucks. An amber coloured pour with a medium off white head on top. Malty, fruity, orange, caramel taste and aroma. Pleasant enough ESB.

Cask at Sun, Stafford. Pours a deep copper with a small foamy off-white head and god lacing. Not much of an aroma – just some nuts and malts. In the mouth sweet malts and marmalade are immediately apparent. It as a rich and creamy texture and gets increasingly bitter as time progresses. Later on there are hints of ginger and caramel too. Finish is dry and quite bitter. This is a decent ESB, though it lacks a certain something.
