A silky porter full of dark chocolate notes and caramelly maltiness accompanied by tingling hoppy finish.

33cl bottle from SIP veini- ja õllepood, Tallinn. Pours very dark brown with a beige head. Roasty aroma with dark chocolate, malt, notes of coffee and dark fruits, herbs, citrus and hints of tropical fruits too. Roasty and hoppy, flavourful, balanced and complex with a fairly dry and medium bitter finish. Quite delicious!

Bottle, batch 1 (brewed at Lehe). Pours black with dark beige head. The head stays. Aroma is roast, hops, citrus, coffee. Flavor is sweet and bitter, roast, coffee, malt, dark chocolate, citrus. Finish is roast bitter with some dark chocolate. Feels somewhat creamy, body is on the thin side. Overall: nice brew. Rating: 7:5:8:3:15=3.8 Bottle, batch 4 (brewed at their own brewery). Looks the same. Aroma is sweet, more cocoa, candy, less roast and hops. Flavor is sweet and bitter, malt, cocoa, candy, roast, fruits, citrus. Finish sweet chocolate with some roast bitterness. Overall: seems sweeter, prefered the previous version, but it’s still nice. Rating for the new version: 7:5:7:3:14=3.6 Side-by-side batch 4 (BB 05.2017) and batch 1 (BB 07.2016). Batch 1 seems more bitter - hoppy and roasty, despite being older. Since the receipe was suppose be the same, the new version should be dryer (as old version was 6.2%, hence less fermented), but this isn’t the case. The old version is rather sweet, but in the comparsion the new version feels noticeably more sugary. The old version has nice touch of coffee that the new version is lacking. The old version has slight wine notes, but this has probably more to do with age than anything else. The old version seems bit more complex, bit more balanced and just more to my taste than the new one.
