Born of bleak winters and hard work, London dockside workers in the 18th century preferred dark beers with roasted malt and higher alcohol content. As the style was exported around Europe, Baltic ports of Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland, it grew in popularity with these remarkably rugged laborers.
Our Borealis Baltic Porter is a nod to these tundra tradesmen, foregoing the fruity character that the ale yeasts had imparted for cold-loving lager strains, with lighter brown malts giving way to blends of pale and “black patent” malts.

On tap pours out black topped with a small tan head. Nose is nice rich roast malts some chocolate touch. Taste is more of the nice roast chocolate touch. Enjoyed this one.

On tap, a nice rich dark Porter that has a little sweetness along with its classic dark roast. Lacking the ash like burnt note. It sure if it is actually a lager but a big smooth rich dark beer. Quite nice.

Taster at Boise winter Ale fest. A real nice offering from this new brewery. Dark brown pour, beige bubbly head. Aroma is equal parts sweet, roasty and chocolate. Taste is lightly bitter, sweet chocolate notes and a really nice feel all around. My first and best choice at the festival
