As the style suggests, this beer is driven by a strong but palatable bitterness. A soft, toasty, biscuit like foundation from Maris Otter malt along with a slight honey note helps support the overall showcase of traditional English hops. East Kent Golding and Challenger hops were used for their classic contributions. EKG lends earthy spice and resinous herbal character to the palate. A sizeable charge of Challenger hops late in the kettle adds pleasant floral, marmalade, and stone fruit notes. The strong bitterness, dry finish, and low alcohol content makes for a quaffable beer that you can enjoy more than a few of.

16oz can pours out amber topped with a sand head. Nose is nice grain notes some wood and corn husk. Taste is more of the nice grain corn husk and a little grass hop.

16oz can from Broken Top. Clear amber pour with a thin, white foamy head. Malty aroma and taste, brown bread, toast. Well balanced.

On tap at Away Days, pours a clear copper golden with a small white head. Aroma is pretty laid back, with gentle bready malt - not authentic at all. Flavour isn't any more authentic, with bready malt and metallic notes. Pleasant enough, but not terribly authentic.
