Bottle from Best of Beers. Black with a brown head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt, caramel and heavy licorice. Flavor is quite sweet and rather bitter. Dry and rather bitter finish with warming alcohol. Oily. 200518

650ml bottle. Jet black colour with late awakening, small to average, thick, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, beige head. Roasty, minimally ashy and metallic, dark malty aroma, fruity hoppy hints of blueberry and blackberry, caramel malty basic layer, weak overtones of glue and thinner. Taste is roasty and caramel malty, minimally bitter hints of burnt caramel, residual sweetness embeds caramel as well as resinous and fruity hop notes, hints of blueberry, blackberry and plum; oily texture, full body, smooth and soft, creamy, minimally sticky palate, lingering caramel malty finish. Heavy but relatively easy drinkable.

Bottle, 10%. Almost black with small brown head. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, dark fruit and coffee. Flavour is roasted malt, chocolate, dark fruit, caramel, sweet, little coffee, cocoa, liquorice and a little bitter.

Bottle. Creamy lightbrown good fully lasting head. Black colour. Moderate malty and hoppy aroma. Moderate bitter flavor. Strong roast and licorice notes. Long moderate bitter finish. Creamy palate.

Sample during the "Hoppin’ On Deck 2" tasting on 06/04/2017. Opaque brown-black color with a medium tan head that diminishes steadily to a film. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt, dark chocolate and coffee. Full-bodied with flavors of charred malt, bittersweet chocolate and earthy coffee. The finish is roasty with a dark chocolate and malt aftertaste. Pretty good all around.
