Crisp, nutty, and malty, a good Vienna Lager should be bolder than the average Lager but still supremely drinkable. And when it comes from Wayfinder — who Craft Beer & Brewing call “a Lager geek’s dream” — you can expect something exceptional.

Rich toasted wheat, lemongrass, and brittle toffee tones course through each intricate sip. Noble hop nuances balance delicate caramel-y malts with herbal complexities, all culminating in a crisp, refreshing finish.

16 ounce can from Tavour. Bright honey gold color. Large, frothy beige head. Sweet, earthy malt aroma. Sweet malt flavor has some fruitiness upfront. This is one smooth sip. Some breadiness in middle. Finish brings herbal, noble hops that provide a delicate balance. This is a great tasting beer, but lacking in color and texture for the Vienna style.

16oz can from Tavour. Clear golden pour, white foamy head. Biscuity aroma, bready. Taste is grainy, sweet, bread crust, biscuit malts, crackers. Not the Vienna Lager I was expecting.

Aromas are malt, cereal and a bit of fruit. Flavors are similar to nose, pick up a bit of toast, add in more toffee and caramel. Not bad. But not great.

Can from Tavour. Pours amber tinged gold with a large creamy white head. Aroma of amber/roasty malt with some citrusy grass. Med body or so. Flavor is roasty/toffee/caramel with grass/spice that's kind of citrus. Arguably crisp and pretty clean. Nice.
