A rich imperial Baltic porter brewed with local rye to celebrate Estonian Independence Day.
Taste: The initial burst of flavours unleashes a symphony of mocha and dark chocolate, dancing harmoniously on the palate, while subtle undertones of roasted chestnuts, prunes and hints of vanilla add depth and intrigue.
Appearance: A pitch black beer with a chestnut brown head.
Nose: Inviting aromas of freshly baked rye bread are mingling with hints of toasted coconut and dark caramel.
Malts: Pilsner zero, munich light, rye malt, chocolate rye, red rye crystal, caramel 150, Carafa special T-3
Hops: Columbus, Azacca

Reviewed from notes.
Bottle to snifter.
Appearance: jet black in the pour and in the glass with a finger's worth of khaki foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: dark chocolate, milk chocolate, toasted nuts, dark fruits and some vanilla
Flavor: blends the prior noted aromas to a fine sweet to semi-roasty and a touch of bitterness; finishes the same way
Texture: medium bodied, good sipper; good smoothness with a touch of dryness
Overall: absolutely lovely impy porter I would return to.

Bottle.
A- Black color, black liquid, minimal head.
A- Roasty, cocoa.
F- Bitter, roasty, rye, grains, cocoa.
T- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, dry finish.
O- Astringent bitterness defined this beer. Has a distinct malt bitterness and flavor that I've come to associate with Pohjala. Honestly just did not love this.

Panda at home, thanks to Kenneth, 21/04/2025.
Pitch black topped with a lasting khaki head.
Nose is dark malts, spice, liquorice, charr, dried fruit esters.
Taste comprises rich dark malts, molasses, herbal bite, toasted brown sugars, booze tunes, umami.
Full bodied, viscous oily feel, semi drying close with a balanced rising boost.
Solid stuff.

Near clear dark brown beer, small bubbly pale tan head. Smooth palate, slightly soft, decent fine carbonation. Soft but rich dark malts, soft rye spice and tang. A little dark toffee and rich ripe fruits. Smooth finish. A rye porter is a rareish offering. A rye porter this good is a thing of beauty.

Black with a thin head. Chocolate, dark malts, caramel, lightly dry roasted malt, vanilla, some spice. Full, slick body. Finish is mostly sweet. Pick up a little spice from the rye but wish it was stronger. Nice brew.

330mL bottle, pours jet black with a small brown head. Aroma has plenty of roasted malt, dry spicy rye, and a hint of molasses. Flavour is much sweeter than suggested by the nose, with lots of molasses, brown sugar, burnt sugars, a touch of spicy rye, and crusty bready malt. Very nice sugars in here on top of sturdy base malts. Excellent.
