[10/18/13] Bottle at Ma Che Siete Venuti a Fà in Rome. Murky orange-red. Very spicy aroma (mint, clove, anise and more), somewhat sour, with some dark fruits, a bit liqueur-like. Sourish flavor with dark fruits, wood, spices and some alcohol. Medium to full-bodied. Nice and interesting, but kinda hard to drink. Maybe it would be better if drunk hot. Actually got a lot better as it warmed up a bit in the glass. Rating went up from 2.9 to 3.4.

Brewdog Shoreditch. Bottle shared with Paul and Lorna. Hazy amber beer, little white head. Nose of mulled wine (well done Paul). Palate is light and semi dry, fine carbonation. Floral fruity mulled white wine! Light tangerine sherbet. Violets and lavender. Finishes dry with a touch of white wine sourness. A unique tasting beer, very moorish and very complex.

Bottle shared with a Lorna & Kenny at BD Shoreditch. It pours hazy red-amber with a minimal off-white head. The nose is mulled wine, jagermeister, herbal, spicy, clove, dried berry, vinous and red grape. The taste is tart, tangy red berry, cherry, plum skin, spice, earth, mulled wine, red grape, mild acidity, wood, lactic, touch of alcohol and earth. Medium body and fine carbonation. Unique. Really enjoying the mulled-wine aspect. Great balance.

Draught @ [ Birre Sotte L’Albero 2012 ]@ Bir&Fud, Via Benedetta 23, Roma, Italy 00153.Unclear matt medium amber colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, mint, moderate to heavy spicy, star anis, spicy but not over powered. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet, light acidic and moderate bitter with a long duratio, anis, anis seed, star anis, mint, spicy. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat. Normal I do not like spicy beers, but this is an exception, quit balance and deep as normal with Valters beers. Well made Valter. [20121216]
