This year’s Vintage Ale is the 21st edition of our limited edition brew and, like any great 21st, we’ve celebrated in style. The 2017 recipe has been created by our new Head Brewer, Georgina Young, and, in the spirit of all things new, uses a malt and hop combination never seen before in a Fuller’s beer.
The Denali hop has a big, inviting aroma that imparts pineapple, citrus and pine notes – perfect for bringing a tropical touch to the Vintage Ale series. It’s been used here both late in the boil and for dry hopping, dovetailing with classic British hop varieties Target and Goldings.
We’ve also used a new malting barley this year – a British variety called Laureate. New varieties don’t come along very often, so we thought it fitting to use one this year alongside our new American hop.
As with every Vintage Ale, it’s a special beer inside and out, perfect as a gift or to add to your collection.

Growler from cask, many thanks zvsn, almost no head whatsoever, clear very deep orange color, aroma of caramel, vanila dark fruits and just a woody piney hint, flavoe of apple compote, dried apricot and figs with some caramel, light sweetness, light bitterness. Nice and highly enjoyable, a bit simple right now, but would improve considerably with age.

Bottle 071258 from Waitrose, Comely Bank. Pours clear amber with a thin white head. Aromas of light tropical fruit and malt, faint spice. Taste is light sweet, light spice, raisins, caramel. Clean finish. Need to get more of this to lay down.

Bottle 95560 from Waitrose. Deep copper in colour, with a frothy, off-white, head. Aroma of citrus hops, red berries, oak and rich malts. Full mouth feel, with flavours of slightly toasty, bready, malts, ripe orange fruits, a light spiciness and suggestion of pine, before a boozy finish. Enjoyable.

Bottle @ Hallinghansen, Mr “ifheshowsup” Orla and Dolles Siberian cold Tasting. Pours Ruby amber with a creamy head. Marmelade, grains, Caramel, bread. Malty qualities. Medium bodied with a bitter hoppy finish.
