The idea behind this unique collaboration was to brew a filtered, strong, top-fermented beer. This wonderful specialty is the combination of two brewing philosophies - this seems crystal-clear when you take a look at the raw materials: Hops from Belgium, from the immediate area around St. Bernardus, Weihenstephan yeast, Bavarian malt - and water from Freising. The beer is of course brewed in accordance with the Purity Law of 1516. Spicy, with a characteristic yeast note, fruity and strong with 6.5% alcohol: Braupakt 2024 flatters the palate with these characteristics.

Bottle at Weihenstephan, Freising sat outside in the Biergarten, Saturday 25th May. Pours gold, good clarity, mid sized white head, a little bit of bitterness, light spicy edge. Soft mouthfeel, a little malty, simple but well executed beer, nothing grand or OTT but very decent. Like this.

Klare goldene Farbe mit weißer Schaumkrone. Malziger, hefiger, fruchtiger Geruch. Geschmacklich malzig, hefig, fruchtig mit Honig. Tatsächlich sind beide Welten - Belgien und Bayern - spürbar und gut kombiniert. Mittlere Süße mit mittlerer Bitterkeit, mittlerer Körper mit spürbarer Kohlensäure.

Public House draught, 5/18/24. Clear blonde. Sizeable, white head. Good retention. Fruity, lightly phenolic (but good ones), with excellent, honey-like malt and lovely, floral and spicy hops. Clean. Soft, malty, honey and vanilla, light black pepper with spicy hops and good attenuation on the finish. Clean.

Lemon, sour milk, banana, clove, biscuit malt, and dry grass aroma. Golden yellow with nice off-white head. Moderately sweet banana, clove, biscuit malt, very lightly sour lactic acid, and mildly bitter grass flavor. Nice body and balance. Delicious.

Keg at BrewDoge Clerkenwell, 10/05/24. Clear golden blonde with a good sized just off white head. Nose is citric zest, straw, grains, herb, light yeast esters, perfume. Taste comprises orange peel, grains, hedgerow, herb, modest yeast load, light white peppery spice, straw. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Not bad.

Tap at Purtse Taproom, Tallinn. Golden colour, steady white head. Fruity, spicey nose. Light-bodied to medium-bodied. Quite Belgian yeast spicey with overriped fruits, even banana. Very Belgian.

Bottle from Livonia Liquor. Pours a clear straw gold with a full two fingers of white foam. Lovely Belgian esters on the nose with coriander, banana bread, white peppercorn and lemon. Palate is similar with a nice mineral note that sits underneath the banana bread, clove and coriander flavors. Sweetness, underneath but a nice dry, peppery mineral note on the finish that lingers.

Bottle at home while finishing work on a Friday night. Gold pour and fluffy head. Nose is banan and cloves. Tatses of banana, cloves, peppery, dough. Nice rounded mouthfeel. Hit the spot.
