Une bière foncé, amère, torréfiée, de la basse fermentation. Une équilibre gourmande entre caractère du malt et houblon, qui est sèche et quand même « moreish » comme on dit en anglais.

75cl Bottle @ Bieres Gourmet formerly known as Etre Gourmet. Pours Dark Brown Nearly Black with a creamy head and lacings. Coffee grinds , earthy and rustic , a whiff of Chocolate and that power punchy De Ranke bitter hoppy finish. Smoothness. Dope. Something People at untappd wont appreciate. 4.1

Pours jet black or almost so, though with a reddish hint if seen through light. Low to medium sized head, of a surprisingly clean white colour for such a dark beer. Decent retention, nice lacing. Not much intensity in an aroma that suggest a very dry beer: a very lightly perceptible roasted malts base, with just a hint of coffee and unsweetened dark chocolate, strong leafy hops (bitter tea-like leafiness), pretty much nothing else. More intensity in taste, indeed VERY dry. Barely perceptible roasted malts notes (as per aroma), dominant dry hoppiness, some leafy tea-like notes to it but mainly just a neutral bitterness flavour wise. A clean, well defined and rather intense taste, but a very unbalanced one; i get bitter and dry, but this is almost nothing more than just that, with flavours muted down by excessive dryness. Light to medium bodied, light to medium carbonation, rather smooth in mouthfeel with a hint of soft creaminess (though, again, a quite good mouthfeel cannot shine against such a dominant feeling). Overall: still drinkable, it's not a spoiled beer and i actually got slightly used to it by the last sips, but very muted down in all the elements that make a porter/stout pleasurable.

0.33l bottle at Ambasada. Very dark brown-black body, lasting off-white head. Floral, herbal, bit soapy dry aroma, with the malty notes being primarily cocoa-like. Lean, dry taste, soft maltiness, the dark malts not being too complex, some floral-soapy hoppy touches, light phenolic notes. Not in the best of shapes perhaps.

Pours dark , chocolaty brown. big , slightly off-white head. Scent is very roasty, sharp, coffee. Taste is sharp, bitter, earhty hops, has aspects of a Black IPA. Lovely, different than expectations, yet in line with the De Ranke style.

750ml murky brown, tan head. Nose is nice and malt. Toasty. Flavor has some yeast but also all the malt. Nice and chewy. Well balanced and an ode to the original. 7 4 7 5 14

Bottle shared at the DCBeer February share. Poured a dark, murky brown color with a small tan head. Aroma was light bitter coffee. Roasted malt. Chocolate, earthy hop. Light herbal, yeast. Really well made.

Very dark brown in color. There are plenty of dry, highly roasted dark malts, earthy notes, a snap of citrus that comes and goes very quick, unsweetened dark chocolate, and a bit of burnt malt. The finish lingers with dry bitterness. Medium bodied. Great.

At 5.5abv it is world class in this regime. Crisp, roasty, robust, classically styled with a modern feel. Wildeman ams
