An old school Imperial Stout
Only a couple of miles from Amager Bryghus you find the vast wilderness area known as Kalvebod Fælled (Kalvebod Commons). Back in the day it was used by the Danish army as an artillery target practice area. But today it’s mostly a tranquil spot. However, if you venture deep into the dark heart of the commons, to an area known as Pinseskoven (The Pentecost Forest), you may feel a change in atmosphere. Because unknowingly you may have trespassed into The Kingdom of The Brainchildren. This mystery kingdom is said to consist of runaway children from kindergartens all over the Copenhagen area. Children having a hard time among normal children, because they are simply too intelligent, having exaggerated brain activity and a skyrocketing IQ. But out here they have found a safe haven, far away from the boundaries of mediocrity and patronizing kindergarten teachers. Not much is known about these brainy children, because – being intelligent – they always hide when adults are around. But it is said that once a year, around mid-summer, they come out of hiding to elect their new king, who must rule for one year, and one year only. And that is pretty much all we know about the mysterious Brainchildren of Kalvebod Fælled.
This beer is made as a collaboration beer with Cerebral Brewing, Denver, CO, USA.

Tap@Amager Taproom Nørreport (02/04/2022) - black with a beige head. Dark sweet and roasted malty with chocolate, fudge and caramel sweetness, light ashy roast, some milky cocoa, sweet dense mouthfeel and body, lingering dark malty finish. Nice.

Tap at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours dark, almost black, with fine cream foam. Aroma is toasted, burnt caramel. Body is average, smooth, with moderate carbonation and some induced salivation. Taste is medium-high sweet. Some phenolic feeling coming up in the final.

Draft. A black beer with a dark brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt and dark chocolate. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, grain, dark chocolate, and a bit of alcohol, leading to a bitter finish.
