A complex aroma with lots of cedar and pine upfront. This develops into pineapple, bready notes and crunchy rye spice. Revisiting whips up a touch of red apple and blueberry. On the palate, it’s full-bodied with orange pith zest and the upfront sweetness draws out to a lingering bitterness.

Keg @ Victoria Tap, Manchester. Darker clear copper-amber with a small head. Crisp, looking but not essentially dark in taste, some dark malts evident but very understated. Decent enough though.

Can. Adnams Cellar, Holkham. Clear deep copper colour. Decent pale beige head sticks around. Charred fruit and nutty biscuit malt. Taste has charred fruit bitterness with a modicum of malt sweetness. Lean and dry on the palate. Lingering bitterness to finish. Tasty but maybe lacking some sweetness and a bit of body.
