A heavy strong stout brewed with coffee, brown sugar and oats. With its powerful quality and morning ingredients it seems parallel to a solid dawn session at Blacks. An inside connection to boutique roasted fare trade beans we were granted the opportunity to make this exceptional brew.

On tap at Stateside Craft, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out Belgian yeast, roasted malt and light cocoa. Flavour is very Belgiany, with loads of Belgian yeast and roasted malt, and a touch of vanilla. Extremely robust, with a rather light palate. Good stuff.

Draught @ Stateside Craft.
Medium brown, light bubbly head. Aroma is a coffee blast with light fruitiness and a hint of chocolate. Sweet front, lots of coffee/chocolate character, with big body. Call it a strong coffee stout, more than impy, but nerdy semantics aside, it’s a quality brew.

Pours pitch black with a smooth head. Aroma of coffee, roastiness, salty licorice, dark chocolate and syrup. Taste is salty, roasty and sweetish with some licorice, dark chocolate and coffee. Finish is smooth, salty and slightly roasty with some coffee and syrupy notes. Slightly unbalanced.

50 cl bottle @ home
Aroma has mocha coffee, some peppery tones and vanilla. Flavour has salty licorice, ash, more salt and distant herbal tones. Aroma is nice but this is way too salty. At the end of the glass this starts to feel sour and lactic too. Confusing; I like the coffee notes here, but the salt and sourness ruin the show.

2014-12-05, draught at O'Hare's, Richmond, BC, 6-4-7-4-15=36
Pitch black color. The aroma is more chocolatey than coffey. Rich chocolate flavor with a hint of coffee, bold bitterness, and the dark malts don't cover the qualities of the hops.
Very good.
2014-02-07, bottle from Birratrovo, Como, 7-4-8-3-15=37
Pitch black color with compact brownish head. Strong aroma of coffee and resiny hops. Thick mouthfeel; strong flavor of roasted malts and some coffee, not too ashy, with moderate residual sweetness and the hop qualities mostly hidden; strong bitterness. There is some lactose in the final.
Quite decent, but if you fancy coffee brews.

Bottle shared at Bruce’s pad, from Healthy Spirits in SF via Rilester who did some shopping for me, 16/01/14. Black with a good sized tan head that retains for a while before insisting on pond like behaviour! Nose carries a good roast coffee blast, earthy, vanilla, dark toffee fudge, brown sugars. Taste comprises roast coffee, chocolate, earthy, lick of booze, sweetish flavours. Medium bodied, fine carbonationm sweetish closure but tempered by the roasty notes. Decent coffee forward impy, well balanced and held together.
