A heavy strong stout brewed with coffee, brown sugar and oats. With its powerful quality and morning ingredients it seems parallel to a solid dawn session at Blacks. An inside connection to boutique roasted fare trade beans we were granted the opportunity to make this exceptional brew.

Bottle thanks to C-dogg. It pours darkest brown with a small tan head. The nose is rich chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, caramel, fudge, vanilla and juicy coconut. The taste is roasted malt, toast ash, earth, coffee, chocolate, spice, caramel, treacle and fudge. Medium body, moderate carbonation and viscous mouth-feel. Pretty solid stuff all-round.

Tasting at the pad of the ever gracious Bruce. Opaque brown beer, good tan head. Palate is smooth with mild carbonation. Smooth dark malt, light touches of malt cream and dark chocolate. Nice generic darkish fruits underneath. Smooth finish. Well joined up and tasty.

Bottle shared in London - many thanks to C-Dog. Pours oily black with a creamy beige head. Rich chocolate on the nose with burnt marshmallows and burnt wood. Medium sweet flavor with lots of charred malts, dirt, rich chocolate, dark fruits. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Warming finish with further rich, complex chocolate character, decent roast, charred wood. Good stuff. Nice creamy, dark chocolate. Delicious.

Jet black body with 95% opacity and a very nice light brown head, about a centimetre tall. Aroma of coffee, roasted malt, vanilla, oak, tons of alcohol, milk and tons of sugars. Full-bodied; Strong assertive roasted malt flavours with anise and a lot of licorice notes tucked in with some lighter coffee flavours, a hint of super dark cacao and a fake sugar, aspartame-y type flavour. Aftertaste shows some odd sweetness with a kick of alcohol and anise and that bad fake sugar flavour. Overall, a decent Imperial Stout that was well intentioned, but just not executed properly - a bit too much anise and that fake sugar flavour that just persists. I sampled this 50 cL bottle purchased from Super Jr. Market in San Diego, California on 06-May-2012 for US$5.99 sampled at home in Washington on 14-March-2013.
