Keg at Pohja Konn, Tallinn. Aroma has citrus, cloves and an earthy, even basement, element. Cloudy amber. Foamy white head. Sweet banana puree with a herbal edge providing a hint of bitterness. Citrus sourness then creeps in. An earthy, yeastie, fungi kinda mishmash hangs around for the duration. Light. Thin. Soft-fizzy carbonation. Long slightly astringent finish. Pleasant start after Sahtis, but too sweet for me.

(Bottle, 1.0l, thanks Arde, 20230908) The beer poured golden and cloudy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had banana, fruitiness, juniper and malts. Palate was medium bodied with very high carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, banana, juniper and malts. Aftertaste had juniper and bitterness. Surprisingly nice.

Bottled, thanks martjoobolut! Cloudy golden, minimal head. Citric nose with some bubblegum and bread. Tart with medium body and rounded mouthfeel, low carbonation. Rye bread, bubblegum and slight citric acid. Low bitterness. Complex and mellow. Very interesting. --- Beer merged from original tick of Õlu on 30 Jul 2012 at 14:31 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 8 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 7.5. Tap at Porgu. Cloudy orange-gold with a high, fine head. Lots of banana in the nose, nectarines, honey. Very estery and possibly rye spice and juniper notes. Sweet and viscous, very fruity and estery with banana, clove, juniper. Very spicy and phenolic. Creamy, and full body. The finish is a bit rough, seemingly from the bread yeast. Comes across as a pale weizenbock more than anything. Good and highly drinkable, but heavy and the finish is a bit yeasty and nasty. --- Beer merged from original tick of Õlu on 31 Jul 2011 at 12:21 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 7. Original review text: Growler at Chriso’s. Cloudy light yellow color with lace. Fruity, estery aroma with citrus. Estery flavor, tangy, with banana, peach, somewhat weizen-like. Good, and very interesting. A pleasure to try.

Draft glass @ Põrgu. Hazy orange, bready, soapy white head. Nose is raw & sweet unfermented raw bread, wheat, mineral, fizzy, dirty rustic. Tastes like a high boost unfermented Hefeweizen mixed with glue, pencil, band-aid, bread, rubber, plastic, mineral, very thick low carbonation boozy unfermented thick body. That pencil & glue finish nearly killed me. I know that the Ölut version is considered to be better but this nearly killed me, too challenging, I need to learn to drink this I think. I really struggled, still really happy to have tried Koduõlu.

On tap at Prgu, pours a cloudy orange with a small beige head. Aroma brings out herbal notes, soil, and fungal notes. Flavour follows suit, with fungal and herbal notes, some earthy soil, and evergreen leaves. Unusual for those of us with little sahti experience. It's fun for what it is, I suppose, though not really to my taste.

Danke an FatPhil! Hefig bananiger Geruch. Weich alkoholischer, sehr hefiger Antrunk. Noten von Banane, geringe Herbe. Steigende Würzigkeit, dabei weiter bananig. Kräutrige Nuancen im runden Hintergrund, langer Nachhall. Nett! 11/9/10/10//10

From õllekeha to bottle (thanks marduk). Pours hazy yellow. Aroma is crazy sweet, banana, fruits, wheat. Flavor is sweet, fruits, banana, some booze, spices. Covers alcohol well. Overall: very good. --- Beer merged from original tick of Õlu on 24 Feb 2014 at 05:17 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 6 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 7. Original review text: Tap @ Põrgu. Pours hazy straw with white head. The head stays. Aroma is sweet, yeast, banana. Taste is sweet and sour, a little bit soapy, alcohol, wheat. Overall: I was expecting something very different, since I have tried several Saaremaa koduõlus before and they are usually pretty awful yeasty messes. Ohh and it goes down really well for the ABV!
