Single hop IPA (Cascade) from Italy’s first craft brewery, bottle from Geers near Ghent. Yellowish egg-white, very mousy and fluffy, thick head over a hazy, warm apricot blonde beer with deep orangey hue and lively sparkling, cloudy with sediment. Aroma of fresh mandarin, orange peel, lime flesh, pink grapefruit, biscuit, wormwood leaves, fried bell pepper, chicken spices, ripe pineapple, persimmon, jute, bath foam, ripe pear. Bright, clean and fruity onset, hints of pineapple, persimmon and orange with a dash of guava, lively carbonated but refined and fit for the intended style with some minerally aspects; smooth-edged biscuity malt sweetish body with a dry cookie side to it, drenched in a grapefruity, long and spicy, eventually mildly piney hop bitterness, not quite as resinous and powerful as would be the case in a classic West Coast IPA, but adequate and aromatic. Italian finess and elegance in a glass – a very pretty little IPA, very solid and colourful, quite delicious indeed.

Slightly hazy golden beer, white head. Grassy citrus aroma. Taste is sharp lemon and grapefruit, grass, hop. Not overloaded with bitterness like too many big IPAs, this nails the balance perfectly and finishes with a distinct but airy and slightly floral aftertaste. This is beautiful .

Bottle at Bottigliera Del Massimo, Palermo, 03/10/17. Very light haze on an orange amber pour with a decent off white head. Nose is orange peel, citric zest, tangerine, toasted malts, straw, light spice. Taste comprises grapefruit, light pine, caramel malts, biscuit, orange pith. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a good dose of hop bitterness. Decent old skool leaning IPA ... fresh and assertively bitter.

Tap. Pours amber. Aroma is hoppy, citrus, caramel. Flavor is sweet and bitter, citrus, caramel. Finish is sugar and citrus dry bitter. Overall: okish, doesn’t feel very fresh and bit too sugary.
