47,3 cl bottle @ Timo A
Canned ~04/2016
Aroma has licorice and grassy hops. Also some ash. Flavour has licorice, ash, pot coffee, very dark chocolate and minerals. Also nettles. Hides the ABV well, could work even better as fresh.

Older rating, at least half a year or so old. 0,473l can at home bought at Beer Republic. Canned says something 2016, couldnt read the month. black color, rather big coffee colored head. smells licorice, earthy, light coffee, cocoa, bit old hoppy, light exotic fruit. nice smell. full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes creamy, of coffee, bit ashy, tobacco, earthy, licorice, light pines, hints of exotic fruits, light caramel, bitter chocolate. finishes lightly bitter with notes of licorice, earthy, light pines and bitter chocolate. very lovely beer, didnt get too excited by the smell but taste is very smooth, very lovely creamy. more stoutish than black ipa, misses some hops (but could be also age here). Overall lovely beer. 7, 4, 8, 3, 16

Can @ benzai. Something with carnaval. Black with a small light nrown head. Smells farty, poop, rotten, weird. Whatever my peers say: they’re wrong. Tastes bitter, hops, roasty. A bit too bitter actually. Full body, nice carbo.

Can from Hopt.nl, canned 08 April 2016 BB 8 months after canning, 50 cl sample. Very dark brown color, medium frothy almost creamy head. Aroma gives the best of what a black IPA should be: lovely balance between earthy and piney hops and soft roasty and dark bready malts, with an extra touch of sweet cookie and chocolate to give more complexity. Medium to high hoppy bitterness in taste, some chocolate and roasty malts, chocolatey and cookie sweetness, without getting cloying. Beer remains crisp. Wow. This is simply amazing. I wondered why black IPA scores pretty high in my list of styles, but this beer shows they can be stunning.
