One of our brewery's historic beers, an icon especially among regulars at our pubs in the Lambrate area. It is characterised by a delicate Pilsner malt base and by light American hopping with Summit and Citra. "Santa" is a golden ale that is fairly high in alcohol but remains very drinkable.

From the tap at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours pretty clear gold with medium white foam. Aroma is not particularly attractive: some malt, some herbal. Body is medium, but with Irwindale alcoholic feeling. Taste is sweet at start, but quite some bitterness comes up later, rather persistent in the finish.

Il gusto al naso riconosce lo speziato. L'intensità olfattiva è normale e la persistenza olfattiva è sufficiente. Il cappello di schiuma ha una discreta resistenza. La consistenza del liquido è limpida. La carbonazione è media Le bollicine sono fini, come al piano superiore. Il colore è giallo dorato carico. Il corpo è strutturato. L'amaro è deciso. L'intensità gustativa è elevata e la persistenza gustativa è buona. Il gusto è piacevole. Il finale è secco, pulito e complesso. Il retrogusto è intenso e aromatico. In bocca l'aroma riporta sensazioni di caramello, miele, frutta secca, luppolo, resina, agrumi e fiori.

Tap at 4:20 in Rome-Italy with Morty. Ciao Mortlach. Semi clear ancient golden pour, creamy head. Nose: crumb, almonds, grass as hell. Mouth: very balanced, I spot a German character, malts and noble hops. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle, BB 211116 (from Koht). Pors amber with whiteish head. The head stays for some time. Aroma is sweet, fruits, sugar, malt. Flavor is sweet and bitter, fruits, citrus, malt, orange peel, grains. Finish is sweet and citric-dry bitter with slightalcohol. Drinkability is decent. Overall: ok, don’t see the Belgian character, feels more English for me.

08/04/2014 Bir&Fud (tap). Dorata, pallida, torbida, schiuma media bianco sporca, abbastanza persistente. Al naso è una classica belgian ale, in stile, note di malto, pane, lieviti, leggera luppolatura con note erbacee e un tocco fruttato. In bocca conferma le stesse sensazioni, in stile, attacco dolciastro e finale luppolato, secca, pulita, ben fatta davvero, nonostante la gradazione contenuta ha una buona struttura, si lascia bere facilmente. Corpo medio, carbonazione corretta. Ottima belgian ale, decisamente sottovalutata nei rating!

On tap @ Ruzanuvol. Hazy golden colour with a creamy a nd off-white head, good retention and nice lacework. Aroma is fruity with notes of plumbcake and cookie. Flavor is slightly sweet aat the beginning, very fruity, light bitterness in the final with citrus hints. The final is very creamy; dense on palate.
