For our second Cask release, and here’s the hook, it’s also available in keg: We’ve decided to brew both beers from the ground up.
A lot of the time, breweries might simply throw some of their beer into a cask, and call it a cask edition. Which means, basically excluding serve temperature it’s going to taste very close to identical to the keg.
We decided to really showcase each format in turn. After primary fermentation, the batch was split into two FVs - and took different journeys from there.
The spunded keg beer has had an extra dry hop of Amarillo, will have a higher carb level and will naturally carry a haze, and be best served at 4 degrees.

Draught, flight at Indie Rabble Brewery and Taproom. Shared with Finn. Decent off-white head, crocheted lacing and a clear mahogany coloured body. Dark fruity aromas, lightly spiced. Blended taste of grapefruit, some spices and mid-sweet malts. Soft and dry end with a satisfying bitter bite. Pleasing. (Windsor, 17.03.2024).

Draft at the brewery taproom, Windsor. Poured a clear reddish amber colour with a mostly lasting frothy white head. The aroma is malt, woody hops. The flavour is over moderate bitter, with a crisp, fresh, herbal, light metallic, big woody hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Cask at Ship Aground, Stafford. Pours a dark amber with a small foamy off-white head and good lacing. The aroma has caramel, malts and autumn fruits. In the mouth it is sweet and creamy with malts and a hint of rye. Later a little bitterness creeps in, with traces of ginger and spice, leading to a dry and fruity finish. This is quite decent.
