In 1913 the brewing of strong stout beers was started in Tartu. Stout was the beer preferred by the Russian imperial court. We regenerated the original recipe in cooperation with our friends from AF Brew from St. Petersburg. Imperial Double Extra Stout is rich and bold, yet well-balanced. Classic malt and hops were used, just like a century ago.

Sample from Tomek. Thanks. Fajnie wyszla ta kooperacja, jest kokosowo, migdalowo, nieco rumowego posmaku, spora nuta palona i czekoladowa, wyrazny palony dlugi finisz. ciemno bezowa piana i rownie ciemna tyle ze bardziej, bo czarna barwa cieczy.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Max's place. Thanks Stas. Black. Roast, coffee, dark chocolate, a bit of earth, tobacco, sweet and a bit umami, bitterish finish, quite full-bodied.

Smooth mild thick and rich beginning. Roast, tobacco, dark milk chocolate, intense rich and depth. Espresso, soft grain, very deep. Great brew!

Bottle, thanks Bor! Pours a pitch black colour and a brown head with fairly short retention. Aroma's: big hard roasted malts, dark chocolate, mocha, red berries. Flavour is light sweet, lots of roast, light bitter. Medium bodied at best, this would have been so great if if had been fuller. Long finish, roasted, light moderate bitter. True to the style.

Black and oily with thin head. Aroma has loads of roasted malts and a little soy sauce too. Flavour has bitter, burnt malts. Very well rounded and full bodied with a lasting bitter aftertaste.
