Darkon wird nach traditioneller Schwarzbierherstellung ausschließlich mit dunklen Malzen gebraut. Dabei wird ein Teil des Malzes im Trommelröstverfahren hergestellt. Dadurch entstehen milde kräutrige und röstige Noten, die von einer langanhaltenden Bittere begleitet und mit Aromen von Schokolade, dunkler Gerste und Honig abgerundet werden.

Bottle (from Stockmann, Tallinn). Pours black with beige head. The head stays. Aroma is sweet, grains, malt, roast. Flavor is sweet and bitter, roast, malt, caramel. Finish is roast bitter. Body is on the light side. Overall: another very nice beer by this brewery.

(Bottle) Dark brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with caramel, chocolate, crisp-bread, coffee, a touch of orange peel and slightly metallic aromas. Malty, roasted taste with notes of caramel, chocolate, coffee, crisp-bread, a touch of orange, some vanilla and a gentle roasty bitterness in the finish. Medium body, quite dry. Tasty and balanced, but a bit shy. Quite enjoyable.

Swift, NYC tap: pours pretty black with a little beige head. Aroma is chocolate, some roasted malt, and some molasses. Taste is a little sweet. There be aome chocolate and stuff. Not too complex, but pretty.

* Old rating, 0,33l crown-top bottle, best before 05.2011. Intensiv trockenes, röstmalzig-schwarzbrotiges Bier. Tolle verbrannte Brotkruste, feinherb abgestimmt, kaum Süße vorhanden. Mild und trotzdem aromenstark. Super!

330 ml bottle, from CITTI-Markt Flensburg. BB date 31.10.2013, bottle No. 1011. ABV is 5.4%. Hops are Magnum and Saphir. Very dark ruby colour, moderate beige head. Aroma of German Schwarzbrot, some caramel. Smooth mouthfeel. Nice and moderately roasty flavour, notes of malts, Schwarzbrot, chocolate and coffee, medium dry. Moderate hops.

Sample @ "Germany" in EPCOT during the Food & Wine festival 2014. Pours clear cola brown color with tan head. Aromas of roasted malts, a little chocolate and a slight hint of coffee. Lightly roasted malt flavor with some bitterness and a hint of sweet chocolate. Medium body with average carbonation.

650 ml bottle. Black in the glass, mighty beige head. Malt and dark fruits on the nose. Starts dark roasted malty, light alcoholic and smooth, fruity hints. Later toffee, with a dry bitterness. Light metallic. Complex longlasting toasted aftertaste. Interesting.
