A fitting anniversary brew for the dog. Rich chocolate, roasted malt, and molasses step out early on the taste profile. The chili's are understated at the outset, but grow as the sips pile up. Not an overly rich body, but definitely a rich mixture of tastes. Vanilla and a touch of Cognac add to the blend. As always with a BD imperial, there are dark berries and some woodiness lurking underneath.

Bottled. Deep brown colour with a mediumsized beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, some ashes, alcohol and spices. Flavour is rather spicy, some chili, chocolate, caramel and alcohol to it. The chili and alcohol combination just makes this rather burning hot.

0,33l bottle at home. BB 01/04/2027. black color, small coffee colored head. smells of vanilla, soy sauce, coffee, toffee, marzipan, bit boozy / glueish. nice to very nice smell. full body, soft carbonation. tastes coffee, earthy, soy sauce, bitter chocolate, marzipan, nutty, fudgy, starting with some peppery. finishes bit sweet with notes of bitter chocolate, marzipan and strong chili notes. quite nice one, but aftertaste is quite strong chilis (too much really). chilis overlay all the other flavours after a couple sips. nice beer overall, just not a great balance.

330ml bottle. Black with a thin tan head. Aroma of chilli, dark chooclate, coffee. Taste has a huge amount of chilli, very hot to the point where it's almost overpowering the other flavours, sweet dark chocolate, coffee, caramel, cognac. Medium bodied, very smooth, and drinks well considering the ABV. It's just way too much chilli as it almost overpowers the other flavours.

Thick, low carbonation, smooth and rich. Fairly heavy on the chilli, overpowers the rest a tiny bit, but not unbearably so. More coffee than cacao, cognac adds warming sweetness, but gets lost otherwise. Very easy for the ABV. Complex, tasty, unbalanced.

Appearance is black with a slight mahogany tinge, a few beige bubbles but no head apart from that. Aroma is chocolate, fudge, toffee, dark roast malt, vanilla traces, coffee, chocolate cake, peppery notes. Taste- chocolate, black pepper, lots of chilli, soy sauce, coffee, burnt toast, treacle, whisky fudge, roast malt. Fiery chilli dominates, leading to a lengthy finish. Rich, but doesn’t taste like the abv.

25.04.2018, 0,33l bottle shared with friends @ home:
Small fizzy shortlasting head. Aroma is slightly dry mineraly, dark malts, hay, minerals, cocoa, booze, dark sugar, bark, licorice, burnt toast, grass, burnt coffee. Taste is slightly dry mineraly, weeds, dark malts, booze, minerals, bark, burnt toast, dark sugar, licorice, coffee, grassy chili, grass. Medium bitterness, kind of watery mouthfeel with a mild harsh chili sting. Boring and disappointing.

(Tap sample @ MBCC 2017 Red Session, Copenhagen) Pours black with a small pale tan head. Notes of dark chocolate, toasted malt, roasted cacao, licorice, molasses, increasingly aggressive chili heat, soft smoke, light woody accents, initial sweetness giving way to a fair amount of bitter roasted notes and rather hefty, burning amounts of spice that are amplified by dry, boozy alcohol. Medium full body, quite softly carbonated. The aggressive pepper notes kind of blow out most of the nuances here and limit drinkability. Out of balance.

At a tasting, many thanks, almost no head whatsoever, dark charcoal black color, alcohol coming up before anything else with mud, minerals, chillie and chocolate engulfing it all, flavor of bittersweet dark chocolate with some chille that is nit too dominant allthough its presence is felt more overtime, quite sweet and a bit heavy. Abit heavy and not too fun but still quite drinkable.
