The Cappucino of beers. Roasty, smooth and sweet.

Samuel Adams® Cream Stout is a true cream stout, balancing body and sweetness with the natural spiciness of grain and hand selected English hops. Our Brewers use generous portions of roasted chocolate and caramel malts as well as unroasted barley to impart a fullness of body, a roasty malt character and rich, creamy head. Its dark mahogany color make it almost as easy on the eyes as it is on the palate.

Bottle. A- Cocoa, coffee, roasty, smoke, woody, A- Black color, black liquid, tan head. T- Cocoa, coffee, caramel, chocolate, roasty, watery. P- Medium body, thin texture, average carbonation, smooth finish. O- This seemed extremely thin on the body and watery but had a nice complex and rich flavor regardless. A little lacking but as easy as it is to drink and as good as it is, I can’t find an honest reason to complain about it too much.

Reviewed from notes.
The appearance had a black body with a three finger tan foamy head that gently mushroom caps and falls toa finger after a good minute leaving some nice speckled spider web lacing in its wake.
The smell had a combination of coffee and chocolate up front, light malts in the background.
The taste was mainly sweet with bitter undertones through the previously mentioned flavors.
The palate was about a light to medium, fairly sessionable, carbonation is slightly felt, chocolate aftertaste, dry finish.
Overall, this is good for the style and good for me, I’ll have this again.

12 ounce bottle into signature pint glass, best before 6/2014. Pours crustal clear very dark brown color with a 2 finger dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings down the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of milk chocolate, caramel, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, toffee, toast, biscuit, brown bread, nuttiness, cream, herbal, and toasted earthiness. Fantastic aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt and lactose notes; with great strength. Taste of milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, caramel, toast, biscuit, brown bread, nuttiness, cream, herbal, and roasted earthiness. Fair amount of earthy herbal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, coffee, roast, toffee, toast, biscuit, nuttiness, cream, herbal, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and robustness of dark/roasted malt, lactose, and moderate earthy hop flavor; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a moderately creamy and smooth mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish as expected of 4.9%. Overall this is an excellent cream stout! All around great robustness and complexity of dark/roasted malt and lactose flavors; and very smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Keg at Stout NYC, as Sam Adams Nitro Stout - which having asked about on the forum only one person (cheers Keanex) came back to me and could only offer this as the beer so thats what I’ve gone with, 23/11/13. Mid black with a good sized light tan head. Nose is sweet brown sugars, cocoa, dark toffee fudge. Taste comprises chocolate, sweet notes, dark malt, light roast, brown sugar, toffee fudge. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, smooth on the palate, dry finale with light roas. Ok.

At a tasting, thanks zvikar, quite opaque very dark brown colour, aroma of dark bread, mud, cocoa and some roastiness and dried fruits in the back, flavour of barnyard, dark bitter chocolate and a strong roastiness and some coffee coming in, a light pleasant complementing sourness. Nice fun drinking.
