Bottle. Frothy white fair mostly deminishing head. Dark yellow colour. Moderate malty and hoppy not pleasen taroma. Moderate bitter slightly harsh flavor. Average moderate bitter finish. Oily palate. I dont like it.

Bottle from Skjold Burne. Medium head with medium duration. Color is golden. Aroma and taste are butter, bitter hops, caramel and malt.

500ml bottle. Pours golden with a medium head. Aroma is spicy, fruity hops with a bit of skunk. Spicy hop start, fruity slinky malt finish.

Cask-conditioned at the Jerusalem Tavern, Clerkenwell 4/02/10. Sweetish, marmalade aroma with some grassy hops. Flavour of summer fruits, sweet malts and citrus hops with a dry, slightly prickly finish. Very good.

Bottle 500ml.Clear medium yellow orange color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, hay, caramel, toffee, light to moderate hoppy, orange. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20090808]

(bottle) Hazy, deep golden to light-amber colour with a mid-sized, slightly off-white foamy head. Light-sweet cara-malty aroma with lime and woody hops. Bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a smooth carbonation. Fairly good hops accented taste on a solid malty base, dry, fruity and hop bitter finish. Another decent St. Peters brew (06.VII.09).

[500cl bottle from Waitrose.] Amber with a thin ring of white head - grassy aroma - tart fruit flavours with some caramel and a sharp bitterness.

I desperately want to like this brewery’s beers. The staff at the brewery are very friendly, I love the set up and location at an old abbey, and above all I love the bottles and branding. Unfortunately the beers I have tried so far have not lived up to my hopes. This one is fizzy, and looks like lager. It pours golden with a moderate but lasting head. The initial taste is very reminiscent of their Golden Ale, but develops a much more pronounced hoppy/ floral flavour, with a deep and lasting bitterness. I can see that some would like this, but the bitterness was a bit strong for me. I will keep trying to find a St Peter’s beer I like though!
