One of Scotland’s favourites thanks to its distinctive and full-bodied flavour. Pale malt gives satisfying ‘Horlicks’ maltiness and black malt adds balance to the sweetness. Challenger provides the bitterness and base note herbal hop character with Goldings adding a hint of orange peel.

Cask at the Plough, Ipswich. Pours dark amber/brown with a small lasting off-white head. Aroma of fruit, sour berry, caramel, malt, bread. Medium sweetness, light bitterness, touch sour. Light to medium body, slightly oily and watery texture, soft carbonation. Not great, and not what it used to be.

Thin tan head stayed on a reddish brown well carbonated body. Caramel, tea & malt aroma. Medium bodied, smooth on the tongue with a tingle on the back. Sweet tasting with caramel, tea, berry, stone fruit & malt.

Bottle at home. It’s not the most exciting of beers, but there is some flavour although it is dominated by caramel. It’s over carbonated, but drinkable and overall I have had much better.

Bottle @ home shared with TomHendriksen. Clear amberish color, small off-white head. Smell and taste malts, nicely bitter, light caramel. Pleasant mouthfeel, easy drinkable. Quite like it.

Fles gedeeld door Benzai, geprobeerd met Benzai en Niels. Het is een amberkleurig bier zonder schuim. Het heeft een kruidige geur en een wat vlakke smaak.
