Pipkin pale malt, Crystal malt and maltose syrup. Challenger and Goldings hops. Morland’s original yeast. A quite unique, strong, bottle-conditioned ale with an original gravity of 1059, full of flavour and character with a richly malted aroma and a nice, smooth finish. From a blend of Pale Ale and Crystal malts, this is a rich and satisfying beer with good presentation. A strongish beer in terms of alcohol, but there’s no bite from this Hen’s Tooth!

Drinking strong ale at work because we're celebrating our success with a lovely BBQ.

Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - deep amber with a thin head. Nose - honey and stewed apple. Some toffee. Taste - syrup and burnt biscuit. Palate - close to medium bodied. Dry crunchy/tangy middle section. Dry, but gnarly finish. Overall - ok.

A typical strong bitter, but with a pungent flavour of yeast from the bottle conditioning. It was an enjoyable pint, but it didn’t have the smoothness that we are now getting with the modern ESBs.
