Named after a warlike tribe of ancient Britains, the Silures made a fierce resistance to the Roman conquest around AD 48. This powerfully hopped, beer is testament to their skill and strength of character. Brewed with sweet Caramalt and Maritime Spruce tips in the percolator, Silures delivers delicious tropical fruit flavours with a hint of pine needles. Robust and thoroughly rewarding.

Cask at the Post Office Vaults, Birmingham. Poured a crystal clear medium amber with a broken bubbly white head. The aroma is tropical fruit, sweet mango. The flavour is moderate bitter with a light pepper spice, fruity, light peppermint hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Plenty going on. A great session ale.

Cask at the Euston Tap, 04/11/14. Lightly hazed golden amber with a decent off white covering. Good full glass lacing ensues. Nose is light pine, caramel malt, bitter tropical notes. Taste comprises tangy tropicana, mango, mineral wash, orange pith. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, earthy to dank hop resonance in the close. Decent SIPA action.

Hand-pulled half-pint at The Station, Oakengates on 29th June 2014. Golden brew with a full white foaming head which gave some heavy lacing. The hoppy nose hid the semi-sweet maltiness within the taste, a citrus bite in the taste also helped to ensure the finish was dry and bitter. One of the better beers on my mini-pub crawl that day.
