A dark burgundy red ale with a thin lacing mauve head. In aroma, sweet dark fruits, blackberry, blueberry, light acidity, nice and smooth. In mouth, a tart yet sweet blackberry, with Epsom salts, light lemony notes, puckering sourness, very nice and complex. On tap at Redlight Redlight.

Seems to be a 2017 bottle. Deep red, a 20 second flash of head and it's gone. Aroma is of brooding blackcurrants, hints of tartness and wildness. The lambic is more to the fore in the taste with the currants providing a fattening richness. There's lemon, some slightly disagreeable barnyard notes, then a sour and brackenish finish. The fruit adds quite a lot of body. Not flat but not that far off it. Acidic and maybe a bit tannic at the end. Rewarding but a mite taxing.

F: no. C: dark with violet red hue. A: funky, red fruits, cassis, bit sherry, cellar, woody, dark sour fruits, bit rose, plums, brett. T: brett mixed with blackcurrant, dark fruits, woody tannins, light lemon, funky, bit lactic, less popular than Cantillon but comparably good beer for sure, really enjoyed, medium body, almost no carbonation, 37,5cl bottle from Prik & Tik Leuven.

Refrigerated 12.7 green 2013 bottle corked and capped. Clear red with small off-white head. Aroma is tart cassis, medium body, lower carbonation, and a little lacing. Taste is rich tart cassis.

2016: Red with little white head. Aroma is cassis cherries, hints of vinegar, more berries, some old mealy stuff. Taste is very sour with a hint of vinegar, some fresh sweet cherry. Too sour vinegar. Rather not. 2017: Dark red with little white head. Aroma is shy cherries with cassis, no vinegar. Sweet milka chocolate. Taste is dry sour berries. Some earthyness. Mealy on the tongue. Only in the finish some vinegar. Still has a nice fruity character. Rating for the 2017 version.

Bottle, Experimental Cassis 2016. Pours dark purple. Aroma is cassis, light funk. Body is strong vinegar, still cassis, but also stingingly sour. Dry short vinegar palate. Side by side: Cassis Lambic 2016. Darker. Much more mellow and balanced, but also thinner. Better fruit. My numbers is for this one.

(375ml April 2015 bottle from Systembolaget) Pours a murky red-brown with no head or bubbles of any kind. Aroma is quite sour and very funky, as heavy a barnyard/manure note as I’ve experienced in lambic coats the nose of this beer. Underneath that, notes of oxidized wine vinegar, currants, dusty fruit skins, tart red berries, extremely musty basement and wood. Flavour is SOUR. The sourest lambic I’ve ever had, moreso than their framboise, and indeed one of the sourest beers. Currants and other very tart red berries, lemon, lighter notes of white vinegar, touches of red grapes, some wood, musty funk and earth underneath, the finish drying somewhat and showing more obvious currant and fruit skins. Remains quite tart through the sip though. Medium bodied, kind of oily, and absolutely flat. It’s definitely not without merits, showcasing a decent bite of the black currants, but the sourness is too overpowering for me. I prefer the various Mikkeller tilts at lambics with this fruit.

375 ml bottle. Pours a garnet red with very light white head. Dusty rich aromas of red berries and currants with just a touch of funk. Rich flavors of tart berries, currants, salal and wheat. Beauty.
