Pours clear dark amber with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, chocolate and caramel. Taste is light sweet and light bitter. Body is light, texture is thin, carbonation is soft.

Bottle. A clear, dark amber beer topped by a small, creamy beige head. The aroma is lightly roasted, with dark dried fruits, coffee and some chocolate. Some metallic hints. Roasted, coffeeish flavor with hints of chocolate. A little bitterness too. Full to medium body, dry on the palate, with a very soft carbonation. Lasting roasted and coffee-ish finish with a solid dose of dark chocolate. Overall, sure a fine mild, easy drinkable and tasteful. 131228

500ml Bottle: BB 23 Jan 2014. Poured into two old ’Home Ales’ badged Countryman glass tankards on 6 Sep 2013 (the wife wanted half). Looked fine: dark mahogany body with a full head of off-white foam. The aroma is all malts, slightly burnt and full on dark chocolate. Taste wise it is also a chocolate malt lead, but it isn’t that simple, there is a lot more going on. Nutty and woody, some hidden spiciness and always a semi-sweetness being suppressed by the hop content. Very drinkable and a pleasant change from all the golden brews I seem to be having at the moment.

Light haze on the darkish brown beer. Crispy palate. Small off white head. Nice dark brown malts with a trace of smoke. A little cream. Mild balancing bitterness in the 2nd half. Minerally crispy finish.

Dark mild with a slight red glow. Beautiful roasted aroma and flavour whilst remaining smooth.

(bottle) Clear reddish dark brown with huge off-white head. Aroma of burnt toffee and dark chocolate. Medium body, overly fizzy on pour but moderately carbonated to drink. Flavour profile varies little from start to finish and is dominated by a rather harsh burnt toffee / dark roast malt taste. There are some balancing sweeter notes. Overall rather one dimensional and a bit harsh.

On tap @ the Haymarket. Pours a chestnut colour with a red hue - some head but not proportionate. The nose has treacle and nougat.The taste is similar, probably more going down the praline and biscuits line in fact. The palate is towards full bodied with a big creamy middle section and a bitter but fairly elegant finish. Overall, a nice ale - would have said going towards a bitter though still has most of the qualities expected in a Mild.

Bottle at home - 19/08/12. Clear mid brown with reddish hues when held to the light and a thin bubbly tan head. Grainy malts on the nose allied to toffee and biscuit. Caramel/biscuit malts in the taste, a little bread, toffee, nuts a good dose of chocolate on the finish and in the aftertaste. Light to medium bodied but too much carbonation for my liking. Decent enought mild - the over carbonation brings it down a good 2 notches for me!

Bardzo dobre i wytrawne w smaku piwo typu mild Ale. Ciemna barwa, średnia ale utrzymująca się piana na powierzchni podczas picia. W smaku wyrażnie zaznacza się wytrawna chmielowa goryczku, która pozostaje dłógo po przełknięciu na podniebieniu. Wyrażnie czuć palony słód.
