A classic example of a beer mild in hops but not in flavour. Sweetness balanced by bitter chocolate malt to produce a rare but much sought after traditional mild.

Cask at a Nicholson’s pub. It pours deep ruby, with a thin off-white head. The nose is dark fruit, leather, leaf, damp wood and a hint of chocolate. The taste is wood, leather, vinous aspect, leaf, dark fruit and some chocolate, with a dry finish. Light-medium body and soft carbonation. Tastes like a cross between a mild and an old ale. Not bad.

500ml bottle. Clear bourdeaux red glowing dark brown with small frothy beige head. Fruity aroma has lots of red and dark berries, a decent chocolate background. Taste is initially minimally sweet malty, slightly fruity, slightly dry to bitter hoppy; increasing bitterness in the middle part, with fading hoppiness a decent note of roasted malt shapes the finish, a bit watery, light body. Nevertheless nicely balanced and rich in taste.

Clear dark brown with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel and nutty. Flavor is medium sweet and moderate bitter. Dry and moderate bitter finish. Not at all thin in spite of the low ABV. 121111

Bottled 500ml. -from Vrutak Zagreb. Dark ruby red coloured, medium sized off-white head, caramellish coffee nose. Malty, mild dark chocolate and caramel with notes of coffee and hops in pretty strong bitter finish. Surprisingly good and pleasant beer despity relatively small ABV.

0.5 l bottle courtesy of Marko, thanks! It poured clear reddish brown body with small head. Sweet and strong malty aroma, sugar, caramel, touch of coffee. On contrary, flavor was more bitterish, coffee driven with only a bit of sweet caramel malt. Thinner in body and very simple, but pleasant. Fine, longer coffee and licorice finish. OK enough, since it’s only my first mild can’t compare, but I’m not complaining.

Bottle, Kuca Piva, Zagreb. Small off white head. Misty cola-dark ruby body. Fine dark bread & coffee nose, dry and sweetish. Taste... Diluted stout. Dry dark chocolate. Bitterish finish. Coffee with chocolate-like bitterness in the finish. This is actually quite good!

Cask at the Jerusalem Tavern. Dark brown, almost black, with a bubbly tan head. nice chocolate aroma, with some nuts, caramel, cocoa mostly. Tangy chocolate flavor, good roasting, very bitter finish for a mild. A bit thin, but nicely hoppy and pretty good.

Bottle at home with Lyoli. Reddish brown pour with a slight, off-white head. Dark, medium roast malts on the nose with some brown sugar. Flavor has some dark, light chocolate malts, medium sweetness and bits of coffee. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Has a nice, roasty finish with subtle coffee.
