Reviewed from notes.
Bottle to chalice.
Appearance: very dark brown color with a two and half fingers of puffy off white foamy head which dissipated mildly to leave some light lace.
Aroma: Belgian sweet notes from the yeast, Belgian spicy notes from the yeast, rich sweet dark fruits, tones of Belgian chocolate, milk chocolate, strong sweet earthiness, light pecans then other toasted nuts, light scents of coffee and some caramel to tofffe hints
Flavor: balances very nicely between the spicy and the sweet of the prior noted aromas; semi-spicy to sweet aftertaste of dark fruits to yeasty vibes
Texture: medium bodied, good as a sipper, some smoothness along the tongue but also some roasty grind, som of that "back-of-the-throat" Belgiany grip, finishes Belgian malty, dark fruity and Belgian yeasty
Overall: a very nicely done Belgian quad I wish I could get again.

Bottle from a local bottle shop. Aroma is dark malt, spicy yeast, dried fruits, raisins, caramel, toffee, with pleasant notes of chocolate and coffee, and a hint of nutmeg. Flavour is medium sweet with some definite bitterness in the finish. Body is above medium. Nice Quad with a surprising touch of chocolate, don't believe you've got this one figured out by merely drinking a puny sample.

330ml bottle @Abbazia delle Tre Fontane (Rome). Bruna, intensa, schiuma ecrù media, discretamente persistente. Al naso note di caramello, liquirizia, frutta rossa matura sotto spirito, datteri, fichi secchi. In bocca è abboccata all'attacco, caramello, leggero tostato, chiusura amara a bilanciare, leggera acidità. Corpo pieno, carbonazione medio-leggera. Notevole!

Bottle thanks to wombat23. Brown with a creamy, beige head. Full-bodied, rich and chewy. Aroma a mix of brown sugar and spice with an underlying dankness. Initial taste is mildly sweet, full of toffee and prunes. Dry and sweeter yet at the finish, which is thick and malty and full of prunes and roasted brown sugar. There’s enough roasted bitterness underneath though to keep an overall good balance. A good one. Too bad about the brewery. :(
