The inspiration for this beer comes from the hoppier North German Pilsner beers and the intensely hopped Pale Ales of Southern California. The use of light but rich malts, extremely soft water and a yeast that ferments at very low temperature gives the Sorachi Ace hop the opportunity to shine ’centre stage’ in this single hop varietal beer.

(Bottle, 0.75 l - # 329/1200 - BB 30/04/2018, courtesy of FatPhil, 20141227) The beer poured golden and hazy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had fruitiness, citricness and booze. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, booze, malts, grain, mild acrdiness and bitterness. Aftertaste was boozy and bitter. A boozy hoppy lager.

Pours hazy straw with nice white head. The head stays. The aroma is a lot of diacetyl, vegetables, malt. Taste is slight sour, sweet, caramel, strawberries, creamy, buttery, some alcohol, bitterness, and citrus. Overall: I really hate the aroma of this one, but otherwise it’s an interesting brew.
