American styled India Pale Ale that is big, resinous and stoked with amazing fresh hops. Copper coloured with a strong malt body and alcohol content allows us to lash hops at it and create a beer worth sending on a stormy voyage.

Malts: Maris Otter, Munich, Crystal, Wheat
Hops: Perle, Dana, Cascade, Columbus, Chinook

Beer Flight choice at the Hanging Bat, keg, one-third pint measure. Reddish brown coloured body, next to clear. Tiny layer, laces well. Fruity nose added by a touch of rhubarb. Red fruity flavours joined by grapefruit and caramel malts. Resinous bitter ending. Pretty nice, quite heavy to drink though (Edinburgh 10.08.2013).

500ml Bottle - Amber/copper with a foamy head. Pine, grapefruit, toffee and a hint of dried fruit in the aroma. Hoppy and slightly sweet taste with a good balance of hops, malt and notes of pine, grapefruit and dried apricot. The finish is very pleasant and lingers for quite a while.

500ml bottle shared at home, from Appellation Wines Dalry. Pours light amber with good head & lacing. Big, big hop nose... mmm... Resins and alcohol and exotic fruit. Delivers on what it promises as well. Simply one of the best UK IPAs I’ve had in recent memory.

Bottle from Tomlinsons Beer Shop, Inverness 140113
Amber orange, clear, frothy whote head with some lacing
Aroma of caramel malts, resinous hops, grapefruit pith, dab of tangerine, resinous fruity hops
Taste of sweet caramel malts, resinous malts, grapefruit acidic hop pith, mango, some tangerine, dab of soft grassy hops, malts are sweet which offset some of the hop bitterness, no alcohol
Palate - Medium body, fairly oily. Sweet malt and bitter hops palate, a little sticky. Finish as main flavour, bitter citrusy resinous finish, fairly dry with sweet caramel. Very drinkable at the abv....towards end of bottle malts were getting slightly over heavy sweet despite the hop bitterness...which just nips it from 4.0....perhaps one absolutely fresh will sort this
Overall - It’s great that beers of this quality are being brewed in the Highlands. Yippee! ......it’s either Red Rocker on cask or this for the #1 Cromarty beer......I have to try this cask and re-rate

Bottle at home, thanks to Craig (Zimbo) - 20/12/12. Chilled in the fridge for about an hour - spot on! Pours a clear mid amber with a thin off white head that clears to the edge of the glass and forms a film atop. Some lacing ensues. Nose is big on pine resin, bitter hops, grapefruit, ripe mango, orange pith. Taste comprises bitter grapefruit, bitter hops, pine, mango, juicy citrus, bitter tastic! Medium bodied, fine carbonation, palate is pitch perfect. A most excellent IPA !

Keg at Brewdog Camden. It pours deep amber with a medium off-white head. The nose is pine, fresh citrus, green banana, earth and resin. The taste is pine, earth, leaf, sherbet, fresh citrus, tropical fruit (mango, passion fruit), resin and light alcohol, with a bitter finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation and slightly sticky mouth-feel as it warms up a touch. Flavoursome, well balanced and smooth. Highly drinkable.

Keg at BrewDog Camden, London. Pours dark, cloudy red-gold with a small, white foam head. Lovely toasty pine nose, some ripe grapefruit. Medium sweet flavour, loads of pine, some toasty leaves and grass, lots of juice grapefruit, orange and melon. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Moderately resinous finish, juicy ripe citrus, plenty more piney hops. Great balance here. Super drinkable stuff. Great work.
