Heineken Buckler

The can looks not really good, the beer in the glass neither. Not much foam. Smells and tastes typical low-alcohol-like, sourish and fermented. Terrible.

33 cL can (Buckler 0.0, Heineken Spain). Pours clear and pale yellow with a white head. Sweet malty aroma. Flavour is slight sweet malty but soon turns into a dry cardboardish finish. No real bitterness.

Light aroma of malt and a promise of hop. Golden white color with a minimal white head. Thin to medium body with brisk carbonation. It’s malty. The promise of hop seems unfulfilled. Brings the old Near Beer to mind. Beats water, and I might prefer it to Bud Almighty. The finish is fairly dry, and the long remain is somewhat papery in flavor. Not all that bad, I am drinking more of it than I thought I would!

12 oz. bottle. Yes, I rate the N/A beers because they can have a place in the drinking man’s diet. This one opens with a skunky smell that never quite goes away. But it does pour out a big head under a nice lager color. Taste shows some surprising beery qualities: some malt and a little bitterness and a spicy hop aftertaste. But it also has a watery mouthfeel. Okay for what it is.

OK, couldn’t wait to try this after a few good beers! Pop the lid of this 12 oz bottle and it has the quality of many better beers that are slightly veggie skunky, you know, the green bottle ones? Has an interesting beer quality about the flavor. This has the color of any other ubiquitous pale yellow american lager. Funny seeing a liquid called beer that has very little alky. Good carbonation. To it’s credit, it really tastes like a below average lager! Even has a little taste bud impact that fools you into thinking there is alky in there. A good session brew but you may need to drink a half case to catch a buzz. If you are a lager drinker, mix these with your standard brew to extend the non drunk enjoyment time without a hangover! Much better than Coors Non-Alcoholic, this actually tastes like ubiquitous pale yellow american beer. IMHO the flavor is much better than many regular alcohol brews I’ve tasted. Surprising! Even has a slight malt or hop bitterness that develops on the back of the palate.

Can. Medium head with medium duration. Color is pale yellow. Aroma is all malt. Taste is malt and watery.

Can. Hungarian version. Creamy white good mostly lasting head. Yellow colour. No aroma at all. Week but not bad flavor. Short finish. This is very close to water but refreshing as it doesnt taste BAD.

Small white head. Paleish yellow body. Light rubbery aroma. Taste is chalky rubber, with quite a bit of carbonation in the mouth. Thin, harsh mouthfeel. Dry rubbery aftertaste with faint grassy notes. Worthless. (0.33l bottle.)

Can. (as Buckler 0.0 (0% ABV) and Buckler Sin (1% ABV)) Clear, sparkling pale golden NA with a bubbly, diminishing off-white head. Sweet, malty nose, almost apricot-like. The flavor is malty and fruity. Thin, watery and a bit sticky mouthfeel and a malty and fruity-sweet finish. The beers are very similar in aroma and flavor, but the Sin has a strange unidentified aroma and a bready note in the flavor. Hrmmf! (070206)
