Ashanti is the little sister of our 2022 Zwanze, Lambic with Gorilla pepper.
Same recipe, same pepper, but slightly more focused on the Lambic side compared to the first blend.
The spicy, fruity, and obviously peppery side is still very present and harmonizes superbly with the natural power of our Lambic.
The name of the beer comes from the inhabitants of the neighboring land, the Ashanti Kingdom, who were famous traders of this pepper.
This pepper is available to purchase at Sandrine’s store, Misao La Maison des Poivres, in Brussels. She also collected the pepper left over in the tanks after macerations and then dried it. This Lambic-infused version is also available to purchase at Misao.

Bottle at home. Clear golden. Very nice mix between lbic and the pepper which has almost a basilicum like aroma. A bit ropey mouthfeel and look.

# 5084; 7/2026. Peper, fresh, spicy aroma. Pinkish gold body; white head. Fruity, peper, lemon. Lighter body; softer carbonation, high drinkability. Very good lambic. Shared 0,75 l of bottle, huge thanks Marko!

0.75l bottle from Base Camp, shared with the Ravenfest VIP crowd. hazy golden body, thick off-white head. Pepper dominates the lovely citrusy, somewhat funky aroma. The taste continues along those lines - herbal, bretty, pepper notes, juicy, light tartness, bitterish finish. Good stuff bordering on great stuff, as expected!

A hazed golden Gueuze with a thin lacing white head. In aroma, nice fruity malt with light Brett, peppers, light lactic notes, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity malt with light Brett, horseblanket, Epsom salts, light peppery character, light mineral notes, pleasant.

Pale. Massive black pepper aroma, only a little more restrained on the palate. Again, tannic and not overly buggy. But this is a beer that I buy whenever I see it, just so I can smell it.

Bottle purchased at Monk's in honour of brother's anniversary: pours light orange with nice head. Aroma is peppercorn, flowers, lemon verbana, light funk. Taste is peppery, lightly sour. Tingly. Great aftertaste. This had a very unique taste and I was there for it.

Bottle at Cantillon. Clear yellow pour with a white head. Insane pepper nose. Actually pretty well balanced with the barnyard funk balancing out the big pepper notes. Good body and mouthfeel.

Tap at Be.Re., Rome, Italy. Pours loaded gold, with almost no foam. Aroma is fruity and Himalayan pepper, orange peel. Body is average, with almost no carbonation. Taste is medium sour, with some bitterness and peppery feeling. Final is still pretty intense, pungent.
