This dark pilsner has, over the years, become a clear sign that Christmas is upon us. The annual launch in Denmark, known as 'J-day', takes place the first Friday in November and is a day of celebration across Denmark. Carlsberg employees drive around in truck to visit bars and cafés while singing the traditional Tuborg Christmas Brew song and handing out free beer to the guests to mark the start of the festive season.
The beer itself is a bottom-fermented wiener beer brewed on lager, münchener and caramel malt, and added English liquorice. The beer is dark-golden with a fresh aroma of caramel, cereal, liquorice and blackcurrant.

Bottle. Pours clear amber gold with quickly vanishing airy white head. Light aroma of malt and hop, ditto taste. Richly carbonated. Bitter aftertaste. Ok but nothing really special.

33cl Can, bought at CPH airport. Clear amber brown colour, off white head. Aroma of spice, fennel, star anise, amber malts, light metallic. Flavour is medium sweet, malty, light fruity, christmas spices, light metallic, bittersweet finish. Light bodied. Not that bad.

A very standard and boring christmas beer. Spicy in flavour and a taste of alcohol. Not very balanced. Dark golden in colour with a white head.

Denmark, September 2009. On many occasions as my cousin had bought some six packs which accompanied as during fishing :) fishing...that’s the good memories, since the beer itself is rather boring, uninspired, a faint mixture of sweet malts and caramel,

0,33 l. bottle, has also tried it on tap and canned many times over the years. This beer is probably the best marketing stunt (notch-notch) Carlsberg ever has done. The commercials are absolutely classics. A lot of people go crazy and sh.tfased when this beer is released in the beginning of November. Deep, clear red- amber colour, with a medium sized, white head. Aroma with lots of malts, burned sugar and hay. Taste is sweet with caramel and burned sugar. Light to medium body, lively carbonation, and a short, sweet finish with weak hops in the end. Santa? Santa, is that you?
