Tap @The Crown, Oxford. Clear pale golden colour, good rocky cone shaped white head, good retention and lacing. Aroma malts, grain, grass, light lemon. Taste medium sweet and bitter, malty, grainy, light lemon, touch of minerals. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation, quite nice actually, well-made and easy to drink.

Keg at The Sarsen Stones, Farnborough. Sweet citrus tinged floral aroma. Light gold. Thin white head. Surprisingly bitter. A citrus bent. Underlying hints of sweetness drift in. Light bodied. Slick. Fizzy carbonation. Slightly astringent finish. Hmmm... it’s as if lemon juice has been added to this lager. After their adverts taking the piss out of lager drinkers I guess they thought their own lager should have a bit more punch to it. OK. Have had a lot worse, at least it doesn’t have the chemical element I associate with pale lagers.

330ml can (5.6%) from Morrisons. Pours clear golden, small white head. Aroma: hoppy, bit of spice, fruit. Taste: spicy herbal hops, biscuity malt, fruit. Slightly bitter finish. Quite decent mouthfeel and flavourful for a lager, I preferred this to their ales.

Keg tap at the Falcon, Huntingdon. Mid-gold with a notable orange hue. Small film of white head. Light but enticing aroma of limeade, hay, boiled sweets. Taste is sweet, chalky and fruity... uniform to the end but its pretty good actually. The aftertaste has a jarring sour note but otherwise this is a nice easy-drinking lager. Better than a lot of their ales by a long shot.

Can. Morrisons. 5.6%. Pale amber. Soft haze. Frothy, messy, white head. Nose has sweaty malts. Rubber bands. Green apple. All the good stuff in here. Light note of peachy hop. Taste is grubby, dirty bitter. Some sickly sweetness. Can’t be arsed going any further. It’s going down the sink.
