The latest in our series takes inspiration from chocolate caterpillar cake, and begs the question; is anything safe from Scottish chippies …or breweries? We’ve pushed chocolate levels to the limit, combining chocolate malts and wheat with cacao husks, nibs, cholaca and cocoa powder for the ultimate indulgent imperial stout. Expect a rich, velvety mouthfeel and layers of vanilla so smooth it could squash supermarket squabbles with a single sip.

Can shared with Martin on the train back to Shrewsbury after a boozy afternoon catch-up in Wrexham. Pours a deep dark appearance, menacing dark brown head. Aroma is extremely cakey, very chocolatey, acting as an appropriate precursor to the first initial sip, which reveals an accurate representatino of the caterpillar cake, very cakey, full bodied, rich.. even seems to get the caterpillar icing spot on too. Bonkers.

Rated at Haze Wave Festival 2024. Sugary sweet and syrupy with some roastiness and intense chocolate sauce notes. Heavy.

Can thanks bro my filthy brother. It pours darkest brown to black with a small khaki head. The aroma is liquidized chocolate cake, vanilla, gooey marshmallow, flumps, jammy wagon wheels, tunnocks teacakes, mocha, neopolitan ice cream and hot fudge sundae. The taste is slick, oily, dark roasted malt, super turbo chocolate, chocolate cake, vanilla cake frosting, toasted marshmallow, wagon wheels, tunnocks teacakes, fudgey, mocha, chocolate bourbon biscuits, chocolate french fancy, jammy, toffee and warming booze with a slick, sweet chocolate cake finish. Full body, fine carbonation and oily mouth feel. Like liquidized Colin the caterpillar right in my month. Filth. Too sweet for the likes of me, but I can't help but admire the audacity of this.

Black beer, lively dark brown head which fizzes away swiftly. Flsvour is a little boozy and a LOT chocolatey. Flsvour follows suit, being predominantly just a massive, rich chocolate blend across the range of bitterness and sweetness, with some vanilla through this andoads of malt and the balance coming in the form of some boozy warmth just taking the edge off that sweetness. A massive chocolate impy, a wonderful thing.
